Introducing Sluispoort: A future work space for the Dutch Ministry of Justice

"What does the workspace of the future look and feel like?" Can a space take responsibility for its occupants, adapting to a variety of different needs? What challenges do we face in a new era of hybrid work? Together with Random Studio, we got the opportunity to rethink the whole third floor of the Ministry of Justice and, with it, a chance to explore this and other questions at the second largest office space in The Netherlands. By installing a range of sensors in this custom-designed modular installation, we were able to collect usage, motion, state and various environmental data throughout the pilot phase in order to inform the future design. Given the nature of the installation and its location, it was vital that it didn't collect or store any personal data and that it was able to function entirely off the grid, without access to any single network. The need for a secure, encrypted and stable infrastructure was therefore of the utmost importance. Check out the full project page on Random's website.
